Trip to « FAHED » Grocery Store
Grade 6 students went to visit supermarket Fahed on Monday, November 30th 2015. The purpose of this visit was to show students how a supermarket operates, and to apply related vocabulary taught in class. Students also had to complete a graded shopping activity based on a list of item descriptions provided by their teacher. The whole visit was conducted in English.
Students took the school bus accompanied by their English teacher Mrs. Diala Encel, Mr. Fadi Chahine, Mrs. Rita Hajj and Mr. Jean-Claude Semaan . Upon their arrival to the grocery store, they were received by Dr. Wissam Fahed who explained to the students how the supermarket functions and the main role of his employees. Dr. Fahed also conducted students through the various aisles and explained the different food categories. Students were also given a tour through the supermarket warehouse and walk in freezer where they saw how food is being stored and packed. The visit ended with very active student shoppers who shopped in four different groups. On the way out, teachers were given complimentary wine bottles, and students were thrilled to receive their complimentary goody bags that they enjoyed on their way back to school.
